The Path Was Just a Suggestion

I color outside the lines.

It's always been this way. I never understood why other people's lines were something I had to follow. Society said X. I just did Y.

Two weeks into my LDS mission in 2000, my mission president told me I was unorthodox.

I wanted to visit other churches. Learn the landscape. He wasn't wrong. I already knew. He just said it first.

That's been the pattern. Society draws a line. I walk somewhere else. Not as a statement. Just where my hand goes.

Turns out most lines aren't load-bearing. Someone just drew them with enough confidence that everyone assumed they mattered.

Some rooms love this. Some rooms don't. Lot of sheep out here.

I stopped tracking which, and never followed.
