I believe art is not paintings, sculptures, and drawings. Art is creation.
Growing up, I was obsessed with making things. Legos. Staying up late typing random words on the typewriter because the result on that onion paper was incredible. Building forts in the backyard. Creating routes for marbles to follow and hotwheels to chase. My dad built an extensive model train setup, and I never played with the train. I just built the world around it. I fantasized about being a stuntman, riding my bike as fast as possible and throwing myself off to practice.
Sundays, I'd walk into our garage and dig through the same junk I'd dug through the week before, looking for parts. Maybe I'd build a time machine. Maybe something for my gocart. I'd take apart broken lawn mower engines and put them back together until they worked.
I was obsessed with creation and bored with playing with a creation.
