There's something about this band that will forever pull me back to the 90s when I discovered them.
I don't understand how each album managed to capture exactly how my life felt at the time of release.
One of the underlying themes across their catalog, when you strung songs together for a mixtape, is love and lust. Something incredible. What's interesting is that despite all the screaming and aggression, the lyrics and melodies and progressions don't lead you into anger. It's more like "I'm at the end of the race, so fuck it, go faster."
I used to listen to them nonstop. ALL. THE. TIME. Lately they haven't made many appearances in my Spotify shuffle. But I'm spinning them again, remembering why they are my favorite band, why I created the fansite, why my email was jaketone, why I simply was obsessed, why I wrote my feelings down as lyrics.
Today's 6 mile run, listening to Lotion on repeat for the entire run simply made today great.
